Confusing day at Maths

                                                 Confusing day at Maths

WOW...... Room 14 had a really confusing day today. A lady called Bina came over to solve a problem. Bina told a lot of stuffs about maths, so please listen about our Confusing day today!
The maths problem looked like this. We had to work all by ourselves, and then we had to get into groups so we can explain our ideas to each others.
We had to use these ice blocks sticks just to pretend these are toothpicks.  This is my group, we worked together as a team to
get the answer, and tell Bina how did we get it.

Oops e daisy....... We all got it wrong, except for 1 group.
Bina was asking us a problem to solve, and that was about squares. When she finished talking, she told us to go and solve it, but guess what we did. We just made squares and that wasn't right. That was sure confusing, then Bina explained it more clearly. Then we knew what we were doing.
(Its time for Maths)

We all worked so hard and tried our best to get the answer.
YES we got it right. We had to use times table to solve this problem. When we got it right, we saw a big smile on Bina's face!!!!
OH YEAH, OH YEAH, OH YEAH!!!!

Our teacher Mrs Moore bought some boxes and they were all different sizes like big, small, medium size. Room 14 lined the boxes up and we had to figure out which one is big and which one is small.
I measured this box and WOW it can hold a lot of blocks. We had to write down our calculation's into our maths book.We really tried hard and worked as a team,It was really challenging for Room 14!!

Dear Snow White
Hi Snow White it’s me Grumpy here, I'm  really glad that you are still alive but if you were still asleep we wouldn't get to eat the food that you cook. Can I ask you some questions? Why did you even go to a stranger’s house? You should of waited for the person that owns the house and ask can you stay with them. If you did go inside the house, someone could of killed  you. Did you even listen to me I told you to don’t let anyone in our house and you still let someone inside, you didn't listen again! Another thing is why did you even listen to that evil old wicked witch I am so grumpy with you. You shouldn't of said  to the old lady you can have a drink but have a drink outside.  I've got a question for you, why did you eat the apple and why did you let a stranger in the house? You shouldn't of let anyone in the house. One more thing is, the Prince kissed you and you don’t even know him and you went to live with him up in the clouds. That was very weird of you.Well any way I'm going to ask you another question. How long did you sleep? When you went in the forest was it scary? Was it dark and pitch black? How short was I and my brother’s? Were we very short? Another thing is what did you feel when you were fast asleep?  Were you dreaming? When you ate the apple what did it taste like? Did it taste like rotten apple? Well I hope you have a great time with Prince charming up in the clouds and take care of yourself and remember to bring some food to us,thank you.

I will always love you,

Love Grumpy!!!

Samoan League Week

Samoan League Week
For Samoan language week we practised our Samoan Siva
and we were  ready to show our school our performance.

We got our clothes ready which is called a Puletasi and we danced to the song like                                       it was a Fiafia night and I felt very frighted and scared  because there was a lot of                                           kid's and parent's.
When the girl's were  finished the dance the boy's did their Samoan Haka..The Boy's did the Samoan Manu Haka and that is very impotent to Samoa because it's supporting our country and our culture.

When the kauri team finished their performance Room 9 did their performance. One  of the  parent's were so glad and they were crying  because they have done so good.
Presley and Faiupu were doing a dance called a fataupati and it is kind of like a fast dance and it's quick.
At May Road School we were so glad that we showed what is Samoan and our culture. After that Faiupu and Sailaleleli were talking about Samoa, and Samoa was called Western Samoa.
The Important thing 's is called the To'o to'o and the Fue.

I think that Samoa is a great place and it's beautiful.I love Samoa!!!

Tennis challenge

This term Room 14 have been practising our tennis and we have been practising where we hit, where the ball goes and also we have been learning how to lift the racket. We had to lift the racket as a L and hold it up and face your hand up to the sky.

Room 14 have been so good and so confident that the coach said To move on to the next level. So Room 14 had to balance the ball on the racket and it is very very tricky because you had to keep it in the middle.
Room 14 learnt that the middle is called a sweet spot and also when you hold the racket you have to control your racket but mostly your hand because when you hit the ball it will go out and it wont go to the person that you are playing. Do you know where is the sweet spot?
Our class Room 14 have been learning different skill's and we even learnt how to hit. When you hit you always have to control your hand and your racket.Another thing is to always to keep your eyes on the ball because you might hit nothing and the ball will go straight out So that is why you should keep your eye's on the ball!
Before we started  playing tennis we warmed up and  to get us fit and ready to go! We will always practise our bouncing so when the ball comes it will bounce and then you will hit and Room 14 really had a hard time to try to get the stuff right and we did a awesome job.It was the best day ever and the best sports ever!!!!
Here is Lavanya  holding the racket the right way and that is what I have been telling you.You have  to hold it up and also you have to balance it in the sweet spot.I think Lavanya  will be a tennis player when she grows up. Do you think she will be a tennis player? Tennis is very hard and tricky but I learnt a lot. I love Tennis.

Anzac ceremony

At school, we were celebrating Anzac day, where we had white crosses that had the Mt Roskill soldier's names on it.
May Road School children were looking at these white crosses that were made especially for the soldier's which was very important to us. At the May Road War memorial there were different schools there also to celebrate with us at the Anzac remembrance day.
May Road School loves and believes Anzac day is to remember and thank all the soldier's who died and fought for you, me and our country.
