New World Trip

Today, Room 14 and other classes went to New World.
We went to New World to learn about what food we

should take and what food we shouldn't. You could
buy anything but I am here to teach you whats best for
you to eat. I want to teach you guys how to read labels.
If you already know how to read them, then just sit back
and have a healthy drink. I chose this because, this was my favourite part Where do you read, well you have to read the
Per 100 grams. Than on there will say:

* Energy: (KJ) Mean how much Energy it will give you.
* Fat: (g) How Fat total will it give you.
* Sugar: (g) How much Sugar does it have.
* Dietary (g)Fibre: It helps you to Process food through your body.
* Sodium: (mg) Its about how many Salt it has.

If you have learnt a lot of things about Healthy Foods, and the  labels, than just sit back and visit our School Blog.

WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!!
This term, May Road School have been learning about Healthy eating. A beautiful and kind lady called Kuma came and taught us about Healthy. So that is why I am here, to teach you guys about Healthy lifestyle.
Why do we have to eat and drink Healthy?
1. So we can live longer
2. You can learn properly at School
3. When your walking to school, you can focus on the traffic lights
4. You can have a lot of Energy.
5. When we are drinking, always have 8 glasses of water.
6. Always drink water because you might get Hydrated.

We learnt that if you don't eat food, you can get angry, tired,
 and different emotions.... Like crying.
What is a portion? A portion is the amount of food you are supposed to eat. Whatever you eat, it has to be the size of your palm,I know right....... CRAZZZYYYYY!!!!
If you don't eat, then your body starts to store fat and
Do you think Juice is good for you?

Well most people think juice is good because it have fruit, but oh no, that's not the answer. They cut away the skin of the fruit, so that is taking a bit of Nutrition away. Also they add another tsp of SUGAR!!
Do you always run around the block and get too tired, and you have to wake up at 5.00 in the morning, well there is no need for that. Just go and clean something E.g
You can vacuum, Sweep something up, wash the dishes too.

Well that is what we learnt, so PLEASE follow these tips, then you will be back on your feet playing!!
(BRAVO) (BRAVO) THANK YOU (BRAVO)  (BRAVO)

well keep reading and you will know how to play.

                                                What you will need?
Get 2 or more players to play with you
You will need a ace card all the way to 9 (Ace= 1)
Divide the cards to each player until the cards are finish.
(Remember to don't look at your cards)

Oh and this is practicing your place values.
Turn the first card over, and that will Represent the 10's.
and the second card that you turn over will represent the 1's.

Both players will say the number, e.g if my card was 3 and 5,
                                       you say 3 tens, and 5 ones equals= 35

The player that has highest number is the winner.
If you have the same numbers as your opponent,

Samoan Language Week

Samoan Language Week
Talofa Lava, and Welcome to the taste of Samoa. Well it's Samoan Language week and May Road School is Celebrating the taste of Samoa. Well come on, lets explore it and I will tell you all about the amazing day of Samoa. Each class went down to the hall and had a look of the different things about Samoa. Well lets go.
The first station that they had to go to was the where all of the Samoan accessories were. When the first group came, they started to talk about how Samoan accessories are made. I learnt that Samoans necklaces and bangles are made out of calved coconuts. Also Samoan bags are called Ato. Ato are made out of dry flax. They would cut the flax, and put it out in for the sun to make it dry. Also I heard that Samoans are very good painters, because they paint on little accessories. RING RING RING!

Well, were on the next station and guest what station were on now? Well if you don't know, well we are on the station that shows you how to take off the skin of a taro. I learnt that when you take off the skin of the taro, you have to be strong. Then you scratch the skin off with a sharp metal scratcher. If you still see brown skin on it well then give it a big scratch and be careful, I think it's too sharp. If your Taro is nice and looks clean, cut it to pieces and put it in the oven. 1 2 3 4 5, its ready, just sit back and have a taste of what Samoans eat. RING RING RING!

What's next? Well you came just in time for the part that we get to watch a professional and strong boy scratch off a coconut. What can you see? Well I can see some Banana leaves, Fresh Coconuts, and a fuzzy looking thing. First you grab the coconut and scrape of the coconut white cream and when you scrape it off, you will see the little white coconut cream and when you taste it, it tastes like heavens!! Then you grab the fuzzy looking thing and squeeze it all together, then you will get coconut cream for your food.
RING RING RING

Making Coco, Have you tasted Coco? Well if not it is beautiful! In Samoa, there is a fruit, and in it is seeds and the seed are coco. Grab the coco and leave it outside for the sun to make it dry and it dark brown. When its dark brown, get a hard wood plate, and a circle rock, and knock it down until it breaks into little pieces. poor it into hot boiling water and you made KOKO!!         RING RING RING

                             What a Teine Samoa wears:
                             Hat: Tuiga
                             Necklace: Ulanifo- Shark tooth necklace
                             Dress: Ietonga
                             Arm band: Lima tau

Time to dig in with some Chopsui and Rice.

                             GROUP PHOTO TIME!!!
                           THANK YOU - FA'AFETAI LAVA
