Samoan Language Week
Samoan Language Week
Talofa Lava, and Welcome to the taste of Samoa. Well it's Samoan Language week and May Road School is Celebrating the taste of Samoa. Well come on, lets explore it and I will tell you all about the amazing day of Samoa. Each class went down to the hall and had a look of the different things about Samoa. Well lets go.The first station that they had to go to was the where all of the Samoan accessories were. When the first group came, they started to talk about how Samoan accessories are made. I learnt that Samoans necklaces and bangles are made out of calved coconuts. Also Samoan bags are called Ato. Ato are made out of dry flax. They would cut the flax, and put it out in for the sun to make it dry. Also I heard that Samoans are very good painters, because they paint on little accessories. RING RING RING!
Well, were on the next station and guest what station were on now? Well if you don't know, well we are on the station that shows you how to take off the skin of a taro. I learnt that when you take off the skin of the taro, you have to be strong. Then you scratch the skin off with a sharp metal scratcher. If you still see brown skin on it well then give it a big scratch and be careful, I think it's too sharp. If your Taro is nice and looks clean, cut it to pieces and put it in the oven. 1 2 3 4 5, its ready, just sit back and have a taste of what Samoans eat. RING RING RING!
What's next? Well you came just in time for the part that we get to watch a professional and strong boy scratch off a coconut. What can you see? Well I can see some Banana leaves, Fresh Coconuts, and a fuzzy looking thing. First you grab the coconut and scrape of the coconut white cream and when you scrape it off, you will see the little white coconut cream and when you taste it, it tastes like heavens!! Then you grab the fuzzy looking thing and squeeze it all together, then you will get coconut cream for your food.
RING RING RING
Making Coco, Have you tasted Coco? Well if not it is beautiful! In Samoa, there is a fruit, and in it is seeds and the seed are coco. Grab the coco and leave it outside for the sun to make it dry and it dark brown. When its dark brown, get a hard wood plate, and a circle rock, and knock it down until it breaks into little pieces. poor it into hot boiling water and you made KOKO!! RING RING RING
